Living electric.

Explore what life is like when you make the switch to electric driving. Here you’ll be introduced to the unique features that come with the e-tron and TFSI e models, as well as an understanding of charging and the benefits of becoming an Audi owner.

There’s driving.
Then there’s driving electric.

Making the switch to electric driving requires a shift in the way you drive and power your vehicle — although once you start driving electric, you wouldn’t think about going back to the past.

Regenerative braking.

Every time you brake while driving the e-tron, some of the energy is recuperated back into the battery — increasing your range. The strength of the recuperation can be adjusted using steering-wheel recuperation paddles. This means that the e-tron can recover some of its battery energy when slowing down, recharging the battery on the spot, and effectively braking the car. This allows for a ‘one pedal’ driving style.

Cruise control.

The easiest way to maximize range is to use a consistent, steady driving style. Regular use of cruise control, as well as avoiding hard acceleration and braking, will help ensure you get the most from every charge. The vehicle will also signal to the driver when they can coast to increase range without impacting performance.

Route planning.

Knowing where you need to plug-in is crucial for long journeys. Fortunately, the on-board navigation system looks ahead for charging stations along your route and within your current range. The system automatically updates when new charging stations become available.

Public charging.

The e-tron models are equipped with batteries designed to maximize their range beyond daily driving. In the event that you need to recharge your vehicle while you’re on the road, you have access to a nationwide network of fast charging stations — not to worry, your e-tron already knows where they all are.

Lightning in a bottle. This is the fastest charging available for any EV. Due to the extremely high voltage and amp service required for Level 3, it isn’t possible to install one in a domestic residence. There are more and more Level 3 chargers coming online every day. It is possible to charge a battery from 0 to 80% in less than 30 minutes¹ using a 150 kW DCFC Level 3 station.

Home charging levels.

  • Level 1:
    Standard Home Outlet

This level of charging is best left as an emergency substitute. It offers much less charging power than Level 2 and will charge an empty battery in approximately 100 hours.1

  • Level 2:
    Home Charging Unit

Audi e-tron models come standard with the Audi Charging System Compact which offers you a maximum of 9.6 kW of charging power. This unit will charge a completely empty e-tron battery in approximately 10 hours.1

Step 1:
Home inspection

Prior to the installation of a home charging system, it is important to consider your home’s electrical capacity. This will determine the level of power you can safely use to charge your e-tron. Your Audi dealer can help you learn more about this process.

Step 2:

The Audi Charging System Compact comes with a wall clip for easy installation and mounting in your garage or home. In order to maximize the charging power of your e-tron when charging at home, a 240V connection is recommended in the garage or vehicle parking area. A dedicated circuit capable of handling a 40-amp continuous load will help ensure maximum power delivery to your e-tron. Your Audi dealer is ready to help you with any questions regarding the installation process.

Step 3:
Home Charging Credit

Get your home ready for your Audi e-tron by installing a Home Charging unit. When a Level 2 (minimum of 7.2 kW charging capability) charger is installed in your home, you may be eligible to receive up to $1,500 as a credit towards your installation.
