Audi RSQ Etron To Be Featured in Upcoming Movie

Audi was featured in the Will Smith-starring blockbuster film I, Robot in 2004 and is now going to star alongside Smith in a new, upcoming film Spies in Disguise. The animated feature film will include a new Audi E-Tron RSQ concept designed specifically for the movie. Audi says this is their first digital concept for an animated film. And it's a doozy.

The RSQ E-Tron is designed to be battery-electric with artificial intelligence and transformational capabilities. This may be the first any of those phrases have been lumped together into one sentence to describe any Audi concept, real or imagined. Oddly, it also has engine sounds despite being electric, though we can pass that to animated movie license. Visually, the Audi E-Tron RSQ is a supercar version of the PB18 e-tron concept shown at Pebble Beach this year. Audi's "e-tron" logo is prominently shown on the film's animated supercar.

"Audi takes a digital, forward-looking approach to the design process, both in developing fictional content and in the production modeling studio," said Frank Rimili, Audi head of Exterior Design for Concept Vehicles. Using state-of-the-art visualization techniques, Rimili continued, designers can "implement futuristic design ideas with the same precision as the development of a fictional virtual concept vehicle such as the RSQ E-Tron."

Will Smith will voice the superspy star of the film, Lance Sterling. Spies in Disguise will come to theaters in September of 2019. The Audi E-Tron RSQ features prominently in the film's trailer, released on November 1st.

The Audi E-Tron RSQ continues a long legacy of Audi vehicles being featured in Fox productions, including the Avengers series.
