2020 Audi RS6 Avant Reveal
"Finally. Finally.. And yet again, Finally. The automotive fans have been asking this for years now. When will the new RS6 come? When? When? When? Well, my friends. The wait is over. In a closed event a month ago, I was invited by Audi to see the brand new 2020 AUDI RS6 AVANT (C8), and spend some time with it. Here are the first details of the car. Some points that I will directly clear out:
- Yes, you are seeing correctly. It's the A7 headlights and front, on the RS6. Why this crazy stunt?? When I talked about it to March Lichte and the designers of the car, they really wanted it to be super-wide. And since the A7 is a little wider already than the A6, they thought that if they put the A7 front on the RS6, and give it also the 4.5cm wider on each side wheel arches, it will look insane. And so it does. When I first saw it I was like oh my god what did they do, and a second later I loved it. I love the A6/S6 front, but I always found the A7 front to be slightly sharper. Then again, it's quite cost saving to have same front on the RS6/7. Cost savings that they probably did to give us many other things we wanted on this car.
- The horsepower. Although the 600hp is probably less than what we all anticipated, keep in mind that this is the non-performance version. So it's 40hp stronger than it's predecessor, with a lower weight. That is quite impressive. It's already faster than the previous RS6 Performance, so we can just imagine what the Performance version, that will follow in a few month, will be like.
- And to all if you people in North America. It's a big day for you. The new RS6 Avant will be the first RS Avant in history offered in the continent. Congratulations!!
- In the YouTube video you can also hear how awesome it sounds, but unfortunately, just like with the new R8, you can't rev the car to more then 3000rpm when standing still, cause of the new emissions regulations on all the cars made in Germany. That barrier can quickly be lifted off by any tuning company.
- Of course, no fake exhaust or vents in a proper RS car. Thank you Audi for that!
That's it for now. Enjoy the first video. I will do a proper video and photoshoot out in the wild in about 3 weeks.
To me, the car looks absolutely insane. It's probably the widest Audi ever made, and I adore how it looks. They went all out on it, and boy are we thankful.

2020 Audi S6 & S7 Model Announcement!
April 12, 2019
Audi Canada is pleased to announce the world debut of the 2020MY Audi S6 and S7 models. In North America the S6 and S7 will be equipped with a 2.9 liter TFSI engine producing nearly 450hp and 440 lb-ft in torque. The engine will be equipped with both an electric powered compressor (EPC) and 48-volt MHEV system for more performance and efficiency.
As well as very vigorous acceleration, the electric supercharger provides a repeatable boost function when accelerating. This means the EPC pre-empts any hint of turbo lag, and enables high responsiveness and powerful acceleration in every driving situation.
While the EPC boosts the performance, the mild-hybrid system (MHEV) helps to improve fuel efficiency. The 48-volt MHEV system comprises a belt alternator starter (BAS) and a lithium-ion battery with a capacity of 10 Ah housed in the vehicle floor beneath the luggage compartment. The BAS is connected to the crankshaft. During deceleration it can recover up to 8 kW of power, which it then stores in the lithium-ion battery. When the driver accelerates again, the BAS reacts instantly by restarting the engine. MHEV technology allows for start/stop operation from a speed as low as 22 km/h. Thanks to the integration of the mild-hybrid system and new vehicle sensors, the S models can coast for up to 40 seconds with the combustion engine deactivated.
All Audi S models are characterized by their striking, distinctive design and sophistication. On the S6, the horizontal splitter in aluminum look creates an enormous feeling of width at the front. It links the two air inlets and ends with the two winglets at the air ducts. At the rear, the S6 features an integrated spoiler that visually extends the trunk lid, subtly emphasizing its sportiness. Aluminum applications in the diffuser link the four S-specific tailpipe trims. These also underline the width of the vehicle.
On the S7, the wide, low Singleframe grille features lamellas in aluminum standard and a corpus in dark chrome matt. The air inlets are enlarged, with very bold contours, and their honeycomb-structure inserts come in titanium black. The blade running through them is in a gleaming aluminum look, as are the exterior mirror housings in aluminum. Other features that distinguish the four-door coupé from the S6 models are the funnels in the air inlets and the angular trim strips on the side sills.
Large standard equipped 20" wheels and optional 21" wheels further emphasize the sporty character of both vehicles.
As on every S model from Audi, quattro permanent all-wheel drive comes as standard. In normal driving conditions, its self-locking center differential distributes torque between the front and rear axle in a 40:60 ratio. If one wheel encounters slip, most of the drive torque goes to the axle with the better traction. In the extreme, 70 percent can flow to the front wheels and 85 percent to the rear wheels.
The standard-fit progressive steering already comes with sports ratios in its basic configuration; the greater the steering lock, the more direct the steering is. Its S-specific electro-mechanical servo assistance filters out disagreeable bumps but communicates useful information to the driver.
In Canada the S6 and S7 will be equipped with the Adjustable damping S-tuned air suspension as standard. It can be set to three modes and includes a "lift" position for poor roads and automatic leveling. In the "auto" mode the body is lowered by a further 10 millimeters at speeds of 120 km/h upwards, and in the "dynamic" mode the vehicle remains always at this low ride height.

Another BIG WIN for the four rings!
March 21, 2019
Audi the overall winner in "Best Brands in All Classes"
• The four rings won big in the Auto Bild reader survey
• The brand ranked first in quality in seven out of 14 categories
• Additional wins in rankings for design, price/performance and reliability
Ingolstadt, March 21, 2019 - Audi is the big winner in the Auto Bild "Best Brands in All Classes" reader survey. The four rings won seven individual victories in the quality assessment - and easily took the overall win. Audi also placed first in the design and price/performance categories as well as in the "Reliable Cars" image field. No brand performed better in the core criteria of the image survey, in which over 70,000 readers participated.
Bild readers found that Audi does the best job in terms of quality, design and price/performance. Readers voted the four rings overall brand winner with 55.2 percent approval - ahead of Porsche and Skoda.
No other manufacturer enjoys more trust than Audi when it comes to quality. "We want to consistently delight customers with top quality in the premium segment," says Michael Neumayer, Head of Audi Quality Assurance. "Auto Bild readers have emphatically confirmed that we have once again succeeded here."
In the "Best Brands in All Classes" survey, readers of Auto Bild trade magazine rated 38 car brands in 14 vehicle categories. Quality, design and price/performance ratio are considered the core criteria here.
Audi topped the quality ranking in seven categories: compact, midsize, full-size and convertibles up to EUR 50,000, as well as all SUV categories - small, medium and large. The brand chalked up additional individual wins in design in the full-size category and in the price/performance category for convertibles over EUR 50,000. In addition, the "Reliable Cars" category went to the four rings across all classes. The brand thus achieved a total of ten first place finishes - an achievement that continued Audi's strong finish in the "Best Brands" of 2018.
Exciting revelation at this year's Geneva Motor Show!
March 1, 2019
Audi has recently revealed yet another exciting electric vehicle at this year's Geneva Motor Show: The Audi Q4e-tron concept is a compact four-door SUV with an exterior length of 4.59 meters whose relation to the Audi e-tron is apparent at first glance.
Two electric motors mobilize 225 kW of system power in the Q4e-tronconcept. As is typical for Audi, the driving power of the concept vehicle is brought to the road with quattro all-wheel drive. Thanks to excellent traction, it accelerates from zero to 100 km/h in just 6.3 seconds. It reaches its maximum speed at an electronically limited 180 km/h. A large battery with a capacity of 82 kilowatt hours takes up almost the entire space in the underbody area between the axles and offers a range that is ideal for every day use.
Stay tuned for more updates!

Did you know?
Audi has introduced a new naming system for their incoming 2019 models.
Back in 2017, Audi had introduced a new naming system to replace the engine displacement numbers. For example, for the A8 models, the 3.0 TSFI badge has been changed to the newly conceptualized A8 55 TFSI. With the 55 meaning this vehicle has 324hp to 363hp. This new badging system will not apply to S, RS or R8 models but will apply to the rest of the incoming 2019 model vehicles.
Audi Board Member Dr. Dietmar Voggenreiter says that the change is to help drivers tell how powerful the car is, since with electrification and alternative tech the displacement no longer equals power output. "The clarity and logic of structuring the designations according to power output makes it possible to distinguish between the various performance levels."1

The table above shows the new badging system, along with it's meaning.
The new badge system will combine the existing model name for example, A4) and engine type (for example, TDI for diesel TFSI for petrol and e-tron for an electric motor) with the two-digit number indicating power. All new Audis will use the new format by next summer, but the company will continue to offer a 'delete badge' option, which will remove the power figures. 2

"Best of the Best" award in Spain: Audi e-tron is SUV of the Year
Publishing group Spainmedia singled out the fully electric powered Audi as best SUV of the year. Spainmedia publishes the Spanish edition of the renowned luxury magazine "Robb Report" and presents its "Best of the Best" awards for products and services in twelve categories. These include watches, wines and cosmetics as well as the two automobile categories SUVs and new products. The field of entrants included more than 50 car models. (October 2018)
German Car Awards 2019: second place for the new Audi A6
The new Audi A6 took second place in the German Car Awards 2019. 59 models with an entry-level price under 100,000 euros competed for the awards. All these models were launched over the past twelve months in Germany. A 14-strong jury tested five of them on public roads and on the Bilster Berg racetrack near Paderborn. The automotive journalists and experts assessed a total of 12 categories, including driving pleasure, safety, comfort, infotainment, design and quality. Once again the Audi A6 proved to be a balanced, versatile multitalent in the full-size class. (November 2018)
"Best of Show": Audi 100 Coupe S in "Great Wall" classic rally in China
This year participants clocked up more than 500 kilometers in the "Great Wall" classic rally in China, organized by German magazine Auto Bild. Three automobiles lined up on the starting grid for Audi China: an Auto Union 1000SP, an Audi 200 and an Audi 100 Coupé S. The coupé took the "Best of Show" award in the Yanqi Island Concours d'Elegance. Audi secured the runner-up slot in the team rankings for the rally. (October 2018)
Audi R8: award from CNET in the United States
The CNET consumer portal awarded the Audi R8 V10 RWS Coupé (combined fuel consumption in l/100 km: 12.4 (19.0 US mpg) combined CO2 emissions in g/km: 283 (455.4 g/mi)) the "Editor's Choice Award" in the "Roadshow" category. The 540-hp high-performance sports car scored 9.1 out of a possible ten points; the car also came away with 9.5 points in the two individual rankings of "Performance" and "Media." According to the jury's verdict, the rear-wheel drive takes the excellent R8 driving experience to a new level and turns the Audi R8 V10 RWS Coupé into an exclusive option. CNET tests and assesses high-quality products and uses its "Editor's Choice Award" to single out the best product in a total of 20 different categories. (October 2018)
Gold and Silver: "Q8 Unleashed" at the Cannes Corporate Media & TV Awards
The Golden Dolphin for the best webisode of the year went to Audi. That was the jury's verdict at the Cannes Corporate Media & TV Awards. The five-part mini-series entitled "Q8 Unleashed"
about a young couple from California came to life as part of the advance communications campaign for the world premiere of the Audi Q8. Produced in collaboration with Kropac Media GmbH, the series provided the first glimpse of the new SUV. In the "Best Integrated Communication" category, the Q8 Unleashed campaign was awarded Silver. Volkswagen Group Canada Forms Electrify Canada to Install Ultra-Fast Electric Vehicle Chargers
Electrify Canada to Operate 32 Site Locations near Major Highways and Metro Areas
Ajax, ON (July 19, 2018) - Volkswagen Group Canada announced today the formation of Electrify Canada, a new company that will build an ultra-fast electric vehicle (EV) direct current (DC) charging network across Canada, which is anticipated to be operational starting in the second quarter of 2019.
"The Canadian electric vehicle market is growing, creating a great need for charging that is fast, convenient and available in key locations," said Daniel Weissland, president and CEO, Volkswagen Group Canada, Inc. "We are thrilled to be able to offer this service and to take a leadership position in providing this key EV adoption enabler to the Canadian market."
The initial plan includes the installation of 32 EV charging sites near major highways and in major metro areas in British Columbia, Alberta, Ontario and Quebec. Each charging site will have four chargers on average and use the non-proprietary DC fast charging technologies (CCS and CHAdeMO). Charging power will range from 150kW to 350kW for the expected longer range, larger battery vehicles coming to market and will also deliver 50kW charging power to support today's EVs from all automotive manufacturers.
Electrify Canada, a new limited partnership company based in Ajax, ON, will manage the rollout and ongoing operation of the network. The company will engage with local vendors to locate, build and operate the network providing Canadian drivers with a comprehensive, technologically advanced, and customer-friendly charging network.
Electrify Canada covers the planning, procurement, implementation and ongoing customer care which will support all automotive brands in order to help ensure that all EV drivers have access to these chargers, regardless of their choice of manufacturer, to drive EV adoption.
Navigant Research forecasts that Canadian electric vehicle sales will grow at a compounded annual rate of 29 percent to reach about 140,000 vehicles per year in 2026. 1
We will share more details as they become available. Stay tuned!
